Applied Piano Classes
Schreiner’s music department is pleased to serve students through the teaching of applied (private) lessons and also offers a group piano class for beginners. The 1105-00 Applied Piano class meets once a week for a 30-minute private lesson. This Applied Piano class, along with Schreiner’s Group Piano class for beginners, is ideal for the student who has always wanted an opportunity to study beginning level piano. Applied Piano 1105-00 is a unique opportunity to learn piano for college credit at the foundational level, even for those who have never studied piano before.
For music majors (both non-piano and piano majors) the 2105-00 Applied Piano class, called Piano Proficiency, is required. This course is tailored for the Music Education major. A prerequisite for this course is the ability to play and read piano music and college credit in basic music theory instruction.
For the advanced piano student, we recommend the 3105-00 Applied Piano class. This advanced class meets weekly for one, 60-minute, private lesson.
Lessons
Students enrolled in lessons work one on one with faculty each week and cover the fundamental aspects of their instrument as well as prepare solo literature that is presented in performance on campus throughout the semester.
