Ted Davis, Mike Dyal to Lead Schreiner Football Broadcasts in Inaugural Season

Veteran broadcaster and former NFL tight end will call Mountaineer home games on FloCollege

KERRVILLE, Texas – Schreiner University has announced that veteran professional sports broadcaster Ted Davis and former NFL tight end and Kerrville native Mike Dyal will serve as the broadcast team for the Mountaineers’ inaugural football season.

Davis will provide play-by-play commentary, with Dyal serving as color commentator and offering analysis informed by his collegiate and professional football experience.

“Schreiner University is proud to have Ted Davis and Mike Dyal leading our broadcasts during this historic season,” said Bill Raleigh, director of athletics at Schreiner University. “Ted brings decades of experience calling games at the highest level, while Mike offers the perspective of a former NFL player and a lifelong connection to the Kerrville community. Together, they will provide Mountaineer fans with an informed, engaging and memorable broadcast throughout our inaugural season.”

Davis joined Schreiner University as lead sports broadcaster in 2022 following an accomplished professional broadcasting career. He spent 24 seasons as the radio play-by-play voice of the Milwaukee Bucks and called the team’s run to the 2021 NBA championship. Davis previously served as the play-by-play voice of the Dallas Mavericks, and his extensive broadcasting experience includes professional basketball, college football, college basketball and NCAA postseason competition.

Dyal brings firsthand football knowledge and deep ties to Kerrville and the Texas Hill Country. A 1984 graduate of Tivy High School, he played collegiately at Texas A&I University, now Texas A&M University-Kingsville, before beginning his professional football career.

The former tight end played in the NFL with the Los Angeles Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers. Dyal recorded 38 receptions for 640 yards and two touchdowns during his NFL career. In 1989, he started all 16 games for the Raiders, recording 27 receptions for 499 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 18.5 yards per reception. He was inducted into the Javelina Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993.

Following his professional football career, Dyal returned to Kerrville and established Dyal Custom Homes. He remains active in the local business and civic community, including service with the Hill Country Home Builders Association and the Tivy Athletic Booster Club.

Schreiner Football will open its inaugural season against Austin College at 6 p.m. Saturday, September 5, at Antler Stadium in Kerrville.
