Schreiner University Climbs in National Rankings

U.S. News and Washington Monthly rankings highlight Schreiner’s momentum, value and commitment to student success

Schreiner University continues to gain national recognition for student success, value and access, with significant gains in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings and strong placements from Washington Monthly.

In the newly released 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, Schreiner climbed to No. 58 among Regional Universities West, improving from No. 86 last year.

Schreiner also rose in U.S. News’ Top Performers on Social Mobility category, moving from No. 88 to No. 55. The ranking recognizes universities for enrolling and graduating students who receive federal Pell Grants, reflecting Schreiner’s commitment to access and student success.

“This kind of recognition reflects the momentum we are building at Schreiner and, more importantly, the work happening every day on behalf of our students,” Schreiner University President Dr. Charlie McCormick said. “We are growing, expanding opportunities and strengthening the Schreiner experience while remaining deeply committed to the personal relationships and sense of purpose that have always defined this University. Moving forward in these rankings is encouraging, but what matters most is that more students are finding their place at Schreiner and leaving prepared to make a meaningful difference in their professions and their communities.”

Strong Recognition from Washington Monthly

Schreiner also earned notable recognition in Washington Monthly’s 2026 rankings, which focus on access, affordability, student outcomes and public service.

The University ranked No. 139 in the South on Washington Monthly’s Best Colleges for Your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars list, placing Schreiner ahead of several well-known Texas institutions.

Schreiner also ranked No. 49 among Washington Monthly’s Best Colleges for Rural America, highlighting the University’s role in expanding educational opportunity for students and communities in rural areas.

Together, the rankings reinforce Schreiner’s focus on delivering a high-quality education while remaining committed to affordability, access and meaningful student outcomes.

Recognition Across the Schreiner Experience

The latest rankings add to a growing list of distinctions for the University.

The Princeton Review named Schreiner a 2027 Best Southwest College, while Schreiner was also recognized as a 2026-2027 College of Distinction. In the latest Niche rankings, Schreiner ranked No. 24 nationally for Best College Dorms and No. 2 in Texas.

Schreiner has also received recognition for its approach to serving students with learning differences. College MatchPoint included the University among its “8 Hidden Gem Colleges for Students with Learning Differences,” highlighting individualized support provided through programs such as Schreiner’s Center of Excellence for Achievement and Learning Support (CEALS) and Learning Support Services (LSS).

This recognition comes as Schreiner reports record undergraduate and graduate enrollment and continues to expand academic opportunities, student support and the overall student experience.
