Schreiner University Hosts First-Ever Football Prospect Camp with 200 Student-Athletes in Attendance

Kerrville, Texas — Schreiner University proudly hosted its inaugural Mountaineer Football Prospect Camp on July 25–26, welcoming over 200 high school student-athletes and more than 400 total attendees to campus for two days of skill development, recruiting insight, and Mountaineer hospitality.

Held on Schreiner’s newly completed practice field, the camp marked a significant milestone for the university’s new and growing football program. It also served as the first time the full Mountaineer coaching staff worked together on the field.

“Our first-ever Schreiner Football Prospect Camp was a huge success,” said Head Coach Keith Allen. “We had just over 200 prospective student-athletes and more than 400 people on campus over the two days. For the first time, our full staff was on the field together, coaching side by side on our brand-new practice field. We also provided campus tours, allowing families to experience our incredible university and the welcoming Kerrville community firsthand. Many families stayed overnight and enjoyed local restaurants, which not only helped us connect with recruits but also supported the local economy.”

While many larger schools host camps with 250+ attendees, Schreiner took a more intentional approach, prioritizing personalized coaching and genuine connection with each athlete and family.

“We intentionally kept the camp size smaller and the cost affordable to make it more accessible for student-athletes to get valuable reps and gain a true sense of our coaching style,” said Allen. “This camp was about building relationships, evaluating talent, and giving families a chance to experience what makes Schreiner and Kerrville so special.”

In addition to on-field instruction, participants and their families enjoyed guided campus tours and the opportunity to explore the surrounding Texas Hill Country, giving them a deeper look into Schreiner’s tight-knit, student-first community.

Key Highlights:

  • Over 200 student-athletes and 400 total attendees across both days
