Niemeyer joins Schreiner with nearly two decades of progressive leadership in higher education and nonprofit advancement. Most recently, he served as Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Foundation at California State University, Bakersfield, where he led a comprehensive advancement operation spanning major and planned giving, alumni engagement, marketing and communications, and foundation governance. During his tenure, he directed the university’s first comprehensive campaign, raising $46 million while strengthening donor pipelines and aligning philanthropic support with institutional priorities.
His career also includes leadership roles with United Way organizations across Texas, Virginia, and Arizona, where he built strong community partnerships, expanded fundraising capacity, and advanced mission-focused initiatives. Known for his collaborative leadership style and commitment to relationship-building, Niemeyer has consistently worked alongside presidents, boards, and community stakeholders to foster a culture of philanthropy that advances institutional goals.
“Bringing Heath to Schreiner is an important step forward for our university,” said Charlie McCormick, President of Schreiner University. “He combines strategic vision with a genuine commitment to people and purpose. Heath understands how to build meaningful relationships and translate that into support that directly impacts our students, faculty, and programs. We are excited to welcome him as we continue building on the strong foundation established by our advancement team and campus leadership.”
In his new role, Niemeyer will serve as a bridge between Schreiner and its alumni, donors, and community partners, helping secure the resources that enhance student experiences, strengthen academic programs, and support continued campus growth. He emphasized the importance of building on the momentum already in place and supporting the work of university leadership, advancement staff, and campaign partners.
“Schreiner’s mission to expand opportunity through education is deeply inspiring,” said Heath E. Niemeyer. “I’m excited to build meaningful relationships and connect our community in ways that support student success and strengthen the university for years to come.”
