The Creative Arts community intends to provide an enriching experience through exposure to the arts in a holistic context. Students can expect opportunities to experience performance and art as both audience and performer. Students will engage with art and performance both on and off campus and will explore how their experiences inform and shape their studies, their careers, and their communities.

The Schreiner Creative Arts Alliance is open to any Schreiner freshman with an interest in the visual, performing, and literary arts, regardless of major. Focuses include (but are not limited to) graphic design, painting, drawing, sculpting, vocal and instrumental music, theatre, acting, dance, poetry, creative writing and arts management. Other program features include:

  • A first-year resource for social and community engagement. Freshmen form a “second family” for mutual support, engagement and assistance. SCAA is a living and learning community housed in the Trull Dormitory.
  • Provides new creative opportunities by pairing together artists and the art enthusiastic from difference disciplines.
  • Research and travel to off-campus events including symphonic and live music performances, professional performances and venue tours, and local presentations that lead to student involvement in the performing arts community.
  • Enrollment in classes together: IDST 1301 Freshman Studies
