ALUMNI NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2025

Letter from the Office of the President

This was not the July that any of us expected in Kerrville and the Hill Country. As you all know by now, the community has been devastated by the flood of July 4th and its lingering aftermath. There was a naive sense of hope as the sun rose on the disaster that this would all be over soon. It became clear to us all as the water receded that our community will be healing for months—even years. But you would have been proud of the way your Schreiner University campus responded to these very dark hours.

Letter from the Office of Alumni Relations

Happy to Be Back at Schreiner!

In the fall of 1987, it seems no matter when my parents called the AC Schreiner landline, nobody was there to answer. I mean, why would we girls be in our dorms when there were so many cute boys just a short walk across campus?! Maybe we were out two-stepping at Long Branch in our colorful Justin Ropers and high-waisted Rocky Mountain jeans! Or maybe we donned our oversized hoodies and ballcaps to go watch the fire burn down at Flat Rock Dam! Our plan was to have fun now, and catch-up on studies, sleep, and nosy parents on Sunday!

Schreiner University Postpones Public Launch of Cornerstone Endowment Campaign

In light of the devastating flooding that has impacted Kerrville and communities throughout the Hill Country, Schreiner University made the decision to postpone the public launch of its Cornerstone Endowment Campaign.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, neighbors, and first responders who are facing heartbreaking loss and overwhelming challenges,” said Dr. Charlie McCormick, President of Schreiner University. “Right now, our focus must be on helping each other heal, rebuild, and move forward as a united community. That’s the spirit behind #KERRUNITED.”
