Schreiner University Welcomes Shane Hallmark as New Defensive Coordinator
KERRVILLE, Texas – Schreiner University is proud to announce the appointment of Shane Hallmark as the new Defensive Coordinator for its football program. With over 30 years of coaching experience, Hallmark brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a passion for developing student-athletes.
Hallmark’s coaching journey began as a student assistant at Purdue University and has since spanned multiple levels of the game. Most recently, he served as the Head Coach at Klein High School for 15 years, guiding the program to multiple playoff appearances. Prior to that, he led Fort Bend Hightower High School to a state finalist appearance and a dominant 24-2 record over two seasons. His ability to build successful teams and mentor young athletes has earned him recognition as one of the top coaches in Texas high school football.
Now, Hallmark is eager to take on a new challenge with Schreiner’s growing football program.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to build something special at Schreiner University,” said Hallmark. “This is a program with a strong vision, set in a supportive and thriving community. I look forward to developing a tough, disciplined defense and recruiting young men who exemplify character and a strong work ethic.”
As Defensive Coordinator, Hallmark will lead the defensive unit, focusing on fundamentals, intensity, and resilience. His philosophy centers on maximizing players’ potential—on the field and in life.
“My goal is to instill a culture of accountability, effort, and respect,” Hallmark added. “Football is more than just a game—it teaches valuable life lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and leadership. I want our players to leave this program prepared to succeed as athletes, students, and future leaders.”
Schreiner Head Coach Keith Allen expressed his enthusiasm for Hallmark’s addition to the coaching staff, emphasizing his impact beyond football.
“Beyond his impressive resume, Shane is a man of exceptional character. I had the opportunity to work with and observe Shane at Klein High School for the past four years. He deeply cares about developing people, both as players and as individuals. His passion for football is only matched by his passion for building strong relationships. I’m confident that Shane will not only build a formidable defense at Schreiner but also make a profound impact on the lives of our student-athletes. He and his family will be a tremendous asset to the Kerrville community.”
With an emphasis on recruiting top student-athletes who align with Schreiner’s values, Hallmark is committed to building a competitive team while strengthening the program’s ties to the local community.
Beyond his dedication to football, Hallmark is a devoted husband to his wife, Denise, and a proud father to their twin sons, Jimmy and John. As a family, they look forward to becoming part of the Kerrville community and embracing all that Schreiner University has to offer.
