Schreiner University to Host Ribbon-Cutting and Public Art Presentation Featuring Visiting Artist Tim Mispagel

KERRVILLE, TX — Schreiner University will welcome celebrated public artist Tim Mispagel to campus this October as part of the Summerlin Visiting Artist Program. Mispagel’s visit underscores Schreiner’s ongoing commitment to integrating art, community, and education.
Mispagel will arrive on campus Monday, October 6, 2025, kicking off a day of collaborative engagement with students and community members. The culmination of his visit will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, October 6, at 5:00 PM, followed by a public presentation from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in Junkin Campus Ministry Center.
The presentation, titled “Creative Placemaking and Public Art,” will feature a panel discussion including Mispagel, Katherine Boyette, Community Arts Program Director, and Clay McClure, Associate Professor of Graphic Design at Schreiner University. The event will explore the role of public art in community identity, economic development, and educational enrichment.
This event is open to the public and serves as a celebration of the university’s identity as the Texas Hill Country’s university, fostering civic engagement and creative collaboration across campus and community.
The Summerlin Visiting Artist Series is funded by the Summerlin Visiting Artist Chair which honors former Schreiner University President, Dr. Tim Summerlin, and the memory of his nephews Reuben and Daniel Summerlin.
