Schreiner University Celebrates Major Nursing Milestones: CCNE Accreditation and $149K THECB Grant Awarded

Kerrville, Texas – June 10, 2025 – Schreiner University proudly announces that its Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) program has officially received a five-year accreditation approval from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), affirming its commitment to excellence in graduate nursing education.
The CCNE Board of Commissioners granted the program accreditation following an extensive on-site evaluation in Fall 2024. The accreditation, effective retroactively from September 9, 2024, extends through June 30, 2030. This recognition places Schreiner’s MSN-FNP program among a distinguished group of nursing programs nationwide dedicated to advancing the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and graduate nursing education.
“This is a tremendous milestone for our Nursing Department and reflects the dedication, hard work, and high standards upheld by our faculty, staff, and leadership,” said Dr. Tandy Mellard, Director of Undergraduate Nursing Programs. “Special thanks go to Dr. Anna Jessup, Director of Graduate Nursing Programs, for her leadership and commitment in navigating this rigorous accreditation process.”
The CCNE review found Schreiner’s program in compliance with all accreditation standards, with a focus on continuous improvement and curriculum alignment with the latest nursing competencies. A compliance report addressing updated 2024 accreditation standards will be submitted by June 1, 2026, further demonstrating Schreiner’s dedication to educational excellence.
Adding to the excitement, Schreiner University has also been awarded a $149,000 grant from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to bolster nursing, allied health, and healthcare education. The funding supports the university’s efforts to expand simulation lab resources and enhance practical training opportunities for future healthcare professionals.
These achievements align with Schreiner University’s 2030 Strategic Plan goals of transformative learning and expanding its impact across the Texas Hill Country.
