A Message From Schreiner University

Our thoughts are focused on everyone impacted by the recent floods. The loss, stress, and disruption is heartbreaking. So at Schreiner, we continue to pray with and for our community, those who have lost loved ones, those facing difficult recoveries, and the first responders and volunteers working tirelessly to help.  And we continue to do what everyone else in Kerrville is doing:  we show up.

Our response has been simple. When the floodwaters came, we opened our doors. We welcomed anyone in need of shelter, and we have continued to house first responders, utility crews, and a variety of support staff working around the clock to restore power, clear debris, and help individual families. Some arrived with little more than the clothes on their backs. Thanks to generous donations, we have provided care packages to support their essential needs.

We anticipate continuing to support these workers for the foreseeable future.

At the entrance to our campus, the words “Enter with Hope” are carved in stone. This week, those words came to life in new and powerful ways. People arrived weary, anxious, and unsure of what would happen next. But they also brought hope. And that hope was met with compassion, comfort, and a safe place to rest.

Our community will endure. This is our home. These are our people. And we will continue to stand with our community and support recovery efforts in coordination with local, state, and federal officials.

Many in our community have asked how they can help. The Community Foundation of the Hill Country is coordinating local relief funding, and the Salvation Army is accepting much-needed supplies. Your support makes a difference.

Please keep our community in your thoughts and prayers as we move forward together – and with hope.
