Jeffrey and Freya Wendling Establish New Endowed Scholarship for Servant Leadership at Schreiner University

Kerrville, TX — Schreiner University proudly announces the creation of a new endowed scholarship from Jeffrey and Freya Wendling. This generous gift marks the couple’s second endowed scholarship at Schreiner, demonstrating their deep and continued commitment to supporting students and advancing key academic and leadership initiatives.
“Freya and I are thankful for the opportunity to again collaborate with Schreiner University on endowing a scholarship in a degree field we advocate for,” said Wendling. “The first was in 2021 when we established a scholarship to benefit the Criminal Justice program. Now with the help of Schreiner Institute Director Shannon Deville and Jessica Belschner, Assistant Director of Development, we have endowed a scholarship that will benefit those students at the Institute engaging in areas of Servant Leadership. We extend a special thank you to President McCormick and the Board of Trustees for their leadership in the advancement of all areas of the University. And as new programs emerge, we look forward to other opportunities to support the University.”
This new scholarship reflects the Wendlings’ dedication to nurturing students who aspire to lead through service and integrity which are values that have long been central to Schreiner’s mission. Their ongoing support ensures that more students will have the opportunity to pursue meaningful education with financial support and personal encouragement.
The Wendlings’ contribution is also part of the broader Cornerstone Campaign for Schreiner’s Second Century, which aims to raise $50 million by 2026 to grow the university’s endowment, expand scholarship opportunities, and support innovative academic programs and student experiences.
