Funders turn out for HCCF kickoff dinner at Schreiner University
Around 120 supporters turned out for the kickoff dinner of the Hill Country College Fund on Tuesday evening, Sept 17, to enjoy a meal, music, and inspirational messages from past and current scholarship recipients. The event was catered by Aramark and held at the Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the Schreiner University campus. Entertainment was provided by the Schreiner Strings.
About $35,000 was pledged during the evening, including a $25,000 challenge from Karl and Beverly Ransleben.
“The Hill Country College Fund kickoff dinner was a truly inspiring evening, bringing together volunteers and donors who passionately support the future of our local students,” said Danielle Jenschke, Director of Development. “The heartfelt speeches from current recipients and a powerful video testimony reminded us all of the profound impact this scholarship has on their lives. With Karl and Beverly Ransleben’s generous $25,000 challenge, we’re off to a fantastic start, and I’m confident this momentum will carry us through another successful year of supporting student dreams.”
The Fund’s overall goal is to raise $700,000 this year, of which 100% goes directly to scholarships for students in need from Bandera, Edwards, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, and Real Counties. Funds are raised year-round to be used for tuition assistance for students attending Schreiner University who have demonstrated need. Since 1992, the amount raised has exceeded $32 million.
