Dr. Lee sees himself filling two main roles for the university.
“As Chaplain, my charge is looking to the spiritual needs of all students, faculty, and staff, by providing spiritual guidance and counseling, while walking with them to develop their spiritual growth and well-being,” he said.
His other main goal is building relationships with the local community.
“There are many churches in Kerrville, so I am trying to meet with as many local church leaders as possible and integrate their participation into the campus ministry program,” he said. “I initiated the new worship service program on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm and successfully arranged 10 different preachers for that service.”
As part of his outreach he is creating a new Schreiner-Community Care Program.
“We are finding volunteer families and matching them with two or three students they can invite to their homes, sharing home-cooked meals with them, making new relationship, and praying together,” he said. “Helping the students to grow, not only spiritually, but also to grow as good members of society, is a kind of example that I’m trying to establish with the community.”
Dr. Lee considers his arrival at Schreiner University as “God’s calling.”
“I have always had a dual calling in my life,” he said. “First, as a minister of the Word, and second, as a scholar in theology and religious studies. At Schreiner University, I am able to practice as a minister while at the same time teach as an adjunct faculty member. So I am fulfilling my calling here.”
Dr. Lee also emphasizes the broader community impact of his work.
“I am committed to serving not only our students, staff and faculty but also enhancing the spiritual and communal connections that bind us all. This service is an integral part of living out my calling here, and I strive to make a positive impact on our shared community.”
