Schreiner University to Host Press Conference to Introduce New Head Coaches for Beach Volleyball and Women’s Flag Football

KERRVILLE, TEXAS — Schreiner University Athletics will welcome the media, campus community, alumni, and local supporters to a press conference on Thursday, January 22 at 10:00 AM to formally introduce the new head coaches for the Beach Volleyball and Women’s Flag Football programs. The event will take place in the Cailloux Campus Activity Center (CCAC) Ballrooms on the Schreiner University campus.

Schreiner recently announced the appointment of Hannah Thrasher as the inaugural Head Coach of the Beach Volleyball program, a new sport for the Mountaineers. Coach Thrasher, who formerly served as an assistant coach for Schreiner’s indoor volleyball team, brings enthusiasm, deep institutional familiarity, and a passion for mentoring student-athletes both on and off the court. Her leadership will be instrumental as the program prepares for competition starting in the 2026–2027 academic year.

The University also appointed Colby McCoy as Head Coach of the Women’s Flag Football program. Coach McCoy, who previously served as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Schreiner, has guided the Mountaineers through an impressive inaugural season highlighted by capturing the 2025 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women’s Flag Football Showcase Championship. His leadership and commitment to student-athlete development have set a strong foundation for the program’s future.

These coaching appointments reflect Schreiner University’s ongoing commitment to growing and expanding athletic opportunities for women. In late 2025, Schreiner announced the launch of three new women’s intercollegiate programs — Women’s Flag Football, Beach Volleyball, and Women’s Swimming — signaling a strategic expansion of the University’s athletics offerings and equitable growth in NCAA Division III competition.
