Schreiner hosts Terri Hendrix for writers conference

Terri Hendrix

Terri Hendrix will be featured at the Texas Writers Conference at Schreiner University.

KERRVILLE TX–Schreiner University will host independent singer-songwriter Terri Hendrix for the 2024 Texas Writers Conference on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 3pm to 5 pm in the Junkin Ministry Center. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Hendrix, recognized by Acoustic Guitar magazine as one of Texas’ 20 essential contemporary singer-songwriters, has built a global fanbase for her blend of folk, pop, country, blues, and jazz style. The classically-trained musician was an early adopter of producing and releasing music independently. Hendrix is also an advocate for helping people with special needs through the transformative power of music and art. Hendrix will share her story about her writing and creative life with students.

The Texas Writers Workshop was started in the 1990s by Dr. Kathleen Hudson through a Whitehurst Creative Teaching award. Each spring the event showcases a Texas poet, songwriter, novelist, essayist, or artist, giving students and the community a chance to hear a voice that makes a difference. This year the event is sponsored by the Humanities Department.
