Why Study Psychology?
Schreiner University offers courses leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology. A major in Psychology can help prepare students for careers in a variety of fields including social services (e.g. mental health counselor, child care worker) and business (e.g. personnel, sales, marketing, and advertising). In addition, this program prepares students for graduate study in an equally broad number of fields including psychology (with specialties in clinical, counseling, industrial, social, cognitive), education (with specialties in counseling or administration), law, medicine, and business, as well as other professions in which a knowledge of the principles of behavior is essential.

Dr. Tiffany Culver holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. Dr. Culver has contributed to her field with several published peer-reviewed scholarly articles in the Journal of College Reading and Learning, College Teaching, and Delta Educational Journal. Currently, she has over 63 research presentations. She currently holds the rank of Associate Professor of Psychology at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. Prior to this, Dr. Culver taught as an Associate Professor at Sul Ross State University – Rio Grande College in Uvalde, Texas. At SRSU, the student body repeatably/proudly recognized her as a “Faculty Favorite.” Dr. Culver accepted this heart-felt award from them in 2011-2012, 2017-2018 and 2019-2020.
Dr. Sam Dreeben, associate professor of psychology, is a licensed clinical psychologist with published research in mindfulness, resilience, health psychology, geropsychology, and bereavement. He completed his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Louisville and his postdoctoral fellowship in palliative care psychology at University of Texas Health Sciences Center/South Texas Veterans Healthcare System. Dr. Dreeben proudly accepted the Margaret Hosler Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2018.
