Dr. Bill Reed, Former Director National Hurricane Center

The Hill Country Chapter of the National Weather Association, in partnership with Schreiner University, welcomes guest speaker Dr. Bill Reed, Former Director of the National Hurricane Center on Monday, Oct 29 at 7 p.m. in the Floyd and Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center ballrooms at Schreiner University.

This event is free and open to the public.

Reed will give a presentation and lecture about the challenges of hurricane forecasting and his career at the National Hurricane Center. He will answer questions following his presentation.

Reed has worked in the military or government since 1971, when he joined the U.S. Navy and later became part of the Navy’s Hurricane Hunters team. He joined the National Weather Service in 1977 and rose to become meteorologist in charge of the Houston-Galveston office in Texas from 1992 to 2007. He served as the Director of the National Hurricane Center from 2008 to 2012.
