FAQ

Can I walk in a graduation ceremony?

Yes, even though the program is 100% online and you are not required to, students may choose to walk in the graduation ceremony following their completion of the degree. We host graduate ceremonies in May and December of each year. Regalia is available for graduate students.

Can I take a session off?

Yes, students can sit out of classes for a session and not have to reapply to the program. Sitting out more than one session, the student will need to reapply to the program. Students should review the MBA course schedule to make sure they can still get the courses they need to complete the program in a timely manner, since not all classes are offered every session.

Do I have to go full time?

No, students may choose to take 2 courses each session to be considered full time and complete the program in 1 year, or they can choose to only do 1 course in each session for part-time. This will make the program completion 2 years.

My undergraduate degree was not in business. Do I have to do leveling courses?

Students who do not have a background in business may be required to take one or two leveling (foundation) courses prior to starting the MBA program. These courses are Foundations of Marketing and Foundations of Finance. These classes are offered in every session in the same online 7-week format, so you can get started in any of the 6 start dates. The cost of the foundation courses is the same as for the regular MBA classes, and the premier discount DOES apply to the foundation courses as well. Adding the two foundation courses makes the total program credit hours 42 hours.

I am a current Schreiner student finishing my undergraduate degree. What are my steps?

You can apply for the MBA program during your final semester of your undergraduate program. You will not need to request transcripts, we will pull those for you. You can be admitted to the MBA program to begin the session immediately following your graduation or any session after that. You can be admitted on the condition that you successfully complete your undergraduate degree on the stated date and maintain the 3.0 GPA.

What if I don’t meet the admission criteria?

Students with below a 3.0 GPA for their undergraduate degree may still be reviewed by the graduate admissions committee and accepted provisionally. Student admitted provisionally must earn a B or better during their first session of the MBA program in order to continue as a fully admitted student.

How do I qualify for Schreiner Premier Partner rates?

For students to qualify for our Premier Partner rates on our Online programs (including RN to BSN, Master of Education, and Master of Business Administration), they must be employed by one of our hundreds of healthcare provider, school, and business partners across Texas. To become a Schreiner Premier Partner organization, register here! We will contact you to set up the partnership so you can start offering your employees this great benefit.

I don’t have a business degree. Are there foundation courses required?

Yes. You will be required to take two foundation courses that encompass learning in Accounting, Marketing, Business Ethics, and Scholarly Writing & Citing.

What is the GPA requirement to get in?

Direct admission to the MBA program requires a 3.0 undergraduate GPA and a business degree. If you do not meet these requirements, you could qualify for provisional admission.

What are the start dates that are offered?

The Schreiner University MBA program has 6 start dates: Fall A (August), Fall B (October), Spring A (January), Spring B (March), Summer A (May), and Summer B (July).
