SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Opening the pool before events
  • Monitor areas of activity
  • Use preventative safety measures
  • Respond to injuries, incidents, and emergencies as directed by the university
  • Enforce facility pool rules
  • Monitoring weather to enforce safety of patrons
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Attend monthly in-services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to perform first aid
  • Ability to perform water rescues
  • Effective communication with patrons, facility managers, Campus Recreation Coordinator and Assistant Dean of Students
  • Vigilance when monitoring patrons
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations

 ADDITIONAL REQUIRED EXPECTATIONS

  • Punctual and consistent
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Active communication skills
  • Great customer service skills
  • Quick response to emergencies
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Must have a current Lifeguard Certificate
CPR/AED/First Aid certified
