SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Director provides leadership and operational support for the development, promotion, and delivery of workforce and continuing education programs at CTWD. This position works closely with the Director to implement strategic initiatives, ensure program excellence, manage key external partnerships, and oversee grant and apprenticeship program administration. The Assistant Director serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and may supervise staff or projects as delegated by the Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement strategic plans aligned with CTWD’s mission and goals.
  • Support budgeting, enrollment management, and marketing efforts in collaboration with the Director.
  • Lead community outreach and relationship-building efforts with local businesses, nonprofits, and workforce organizations, and work closely with key external stakeholders to advance collaborative workforce initiatives.
  • Supervise staff and student workers, fostering a productive and collaborative working environment.
  • Represent CTWD at job fairs, community events, workshops, and networking events, to promote programs and generate leads.
  • Coordinate and report on grants and apprenticeship programs with internal teams and external partners.
  • Assist the Director with program development, implementation, and day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinate with instructors, facilitators, and content partners to ensure the smooth delivery of the program and positive student experience.
  • Provide student support by responding to questions, resolving concerns, and connecting them with resources.
  • Monitor and report on program performance, enrollment, and engagement metrics to inform continuous improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of administrative or project coordination experience.
  • Experience working in education, workforce development, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Experience managing programs, budgets, and compliance.
  • Proven ability to supervise and train staff effectively.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in community engagement or outreach.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience and proficiency with commonly used Internet browsers, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Canva are required. Must be able to learn and utilize various CRMs: Jenzabar and Jenzabar Recruitment Manager.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for community events.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, related insurance, and a good driving record to drive any vehicle, including personally owned vehicles, on behalf of the University.
