The Department of Chemistry at Schreiner University seeks qualified part-time Adjunct Instructor of Chemistry to teach Introductory Chemistry lecture and/or General Chemistry I and II lecture. Duties include facilitating Introductory Chemistry, or General Chemistry I or General Chemistry 2 lecture (material delivery and assessment of student learning). Online modalities are an option with prior experience. Preference will be given to the applicant with a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering, but bachelor’s degrees in science where the coursework included undergraduate credit in General Chemistry I and II will be considered.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches upto 2 chemistry lectures (1 lecture = 3hr load) in the Fall or Spring semester (15wks), with the option of 2 chemistry lectures each summer session (5wks).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Teaches Introductory or General I or General II Chemistry lectures
- Effective content delivery
- Assessment of student learning
- Facilitate the above course in online modalities, if applicable.
- Work with the Chemistry faculty to ensure a quality program
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Acts to facilitate good communications between employees, clients, and management through interpersonal and professional communication techniques.
- Maintain University safety rules.
- Attends division/department meetings as needed and University staff meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, Environmental Science or Engineering or related field, Masters preferred.
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, related insurance and good driving record
