Kerrville, TX – Alpha Sigma Lambda honor society began in 1946 and is today the largest chapter-based honor society recognizing the achievements of adult learners. Schreiner University is one of only 10 in the state, such as Georgetown University and Spelman College. 12 non-traditional students of Schreiner University were inducted into the honor society on Apr 21.

Founded on the campus of Northwestern University in 1946, Dr. Rollin Posey, Dean of the University at Northwestern University, established Alpha Sigma Lambda as a means of recognizing superior scholarship among students. Alpha Sigma Lambda is not only the oldest, but also largest, chapter-based honor society for full and part-time students.

Under the faculty sponsorship of Dr. Jeannette Cockroft, Associate Professor of History and Political Science, the charter members of the Xi Omega Chapter are Donna Wilson, Isaac Busshaus, Vicki Fry, Monica Fields, Amber Kuykendall, Lindsey Patterson, Brittany Geer, Walter Webb, Jason Conner, Sarah Sides, Drew Yarbrough, Andrew Soule and Julie Huffman.
