Lynn Atkinson Tovar Ed.D: is the Director of the Criminal Justice degree program at Schreiner University. She recently retired from Lewis University, Romeoville Illinois as a tenured professor after teaching traditional undergraduate, graduate, and online courses in the Justice. Law and Public Safety Department. She is a twenty-five-year veteran of law enforcement retiring as a Commander with the Elk Grove Village Police Department, Illinois. A career law enforcement professional, Lynn has been involved in street patrol, criminal, and youth investigations with a specialization of child sexual abuse and domestic violence. Lynn has presented internationally and nationally on law enforcement topics. She has been published in both law enforcement and educational journals. Lynn worked with the FBI on the BeSTOW project from 2009-2011. She has actively researched domestic violence and experiential learning her two areas of passion and published a book titled: Smart Teen, Safe Teen that addresses the complexities of relationships through social media and teen dating violence. She also continues to collaborate with Lewis University travel study programs taking students to London and the University of Tennessee’s Forensic Anthropology Center. Lynn received a Doctoral Degree in Adult Continuing Education with a focus in Human Resource Development from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.
