Bachelor of Science in Aviation Studies

  • What can you achieve in Schreiner University’s Aviation Studies program?
Upon completion of Schreiner University’s 4-year program, graduates will have earned a bachelor’s degree as well as their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private and Commercial pilot certificates with an instrument rating, as well as a multi-engine rating and a Flight Instructor certificate.

  • What can you expect at Schreiner?
Flight instruction will be based at Schreiner Field on the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport, approximately 9 miles from the main Schreiner campus. Ground school, electives, and core courses will be taught on the main campus. Students will need to provide their own transportation from the main campus to the airport.

With about 222 days of sunshine a year and less traffic than normal airports, Schreiner Field is an ideal location for pilots in training.

A Cessna 172 aircraft will be used for initial training.

Students in the Aviation Studies program will be required to live in on-campus housing during the program.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in math and science.

  • Meet the Director
The Director of the program, Carl Davis, has 30 years of experience in aviation with experience in private, corporate, airline, regulatory, and manufacturer operations.
He has worked with airlines and universities all over the world and understands what professional pilots need to be prepared for a long and safe career.
