Bachelor of Science in Aviation Studies

  • What can you achieve in Schreiner University’s Aviation Studies program?
Upon completion of Schreiner University’s 4-year program, graduates will have earned a bachelor’s degree as well as their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private and Commercial pilot certificates with an instrument rating, as well as a multi-engine rating and a Flight Instructor certificate.

  • What can you expect at Schreiner?
Flight instruction will be based at Schreiner Field on the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport, approximately 9 miles from the main Schreiner campus. Ground school, electives, and core courses will be taught on the main campus. Students will need to provide their own transportation from the main campus to the airport.

With about 222 days of sunshine a year and less traffic than normal airports, Schreiner Field is an ideal location for pilots in training.

A Cessna 172 aircraft will be used for initial training.

Students in the Aviation Studies program will be required to live in on-campus housing during the program.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in math and science. This is an FAA Part 141 training program and the workload is intense. You will need to be dedicated to succeed. Flight lab fees will be in excess of $100,000.00 for the four-year program.
