Kerrville, TX — The Schreiner University Student Activities Board (SAB) returned from the 2026 Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) South Regional Conference with plenty to celebrate, including being named the 2026 Programming Board of the Year!

In addition to receiving the conference’s top programming board recognition, SAB also earned third place in Print Media, recognizing the creativity and marketing efforts of our student leaders.

The APCA South Regional Conference brings together student programmers, advisors, and campus activities professionals from colleges and universities across the region. The conference provides opportunities to share ideas, learn best practices, discover new entertainment, and celebrate outstanding achievements in campus programming.

For Schreiner’s Student Activities Board, this year’s recognition is especially meaningful. Through a diverse range of programs, campus traditions, and new experiences, SAB continues to find creative ways to bring students together, strengthen campus spirit, and create opportunities for students to connect outside the classroom.

“One of my favorite parts of APCA is watching our students step outside their comfort zones and learn from other student leaders,” said David Gehrels, Director of Student Activities. “They get to see how other universities approach programming, exchange ideas, and discover opportunities we can bring back to Schreiner. We always come home with fresh perspectives, new connections, and plenty of ideas, as well as providing guidance and inspiration other programming boards.”

The recognition follows another successful showing at APCA South, where Schreiner earned multiple marketing and programming awards and Gehrels was recognized as Advisor of the Year.

“Last year, I had the honor of being recognized as Advisor of the Year. This year, seeing our students recognized as Programming Board of the Year means even more. This award belongs to our amazing Executive Team and awesome General Board. They are the ones putting in the work, coming up with new ideas, and making these experiences happen. I am incredibly thankful for each of them. You guys rock!”

The Student Activities Board continues to play an important role in Schreiner’s campus life, providing a wide variety of programs designed to entertain, educate, and connect the university community. Through their work, student leaders gain valuable experience in event planning, marketing, teamwork, budgeting, and leadership while helping create lasting memories and traditions for their fellow Mountaineers.

Congratulations to the Schreiner University Student Activities Board, the 2026 APCA South Programming Board of the Year!
