SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Athlete Ministry Work-Study position is designed to operate in close partnership with the FCA Peer Ministry Leader (PML) to spiritually support Schreiner University’s student-athletes. Acting as a liaison between University Ministry and the Athletics Department, this role focuses on coordinating logistics with coaches and administrative staff to facilitate ministry visits. The primary objective is to accompany the PML in visiting teams, ensuring that spiritual care and activities are delivered effectively and at appropriate times. 5-10 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordination & Communication: Proactively contact coaches, athletic trainers, and administrative staff to identify the best times and locations for ministry visits. Coordinate these schedules with the FCA PML to ensure seamless execution.
  • Collaborative Visitation: Partner with the FCA PML to regularly visit athletic facilities, practice fields, and gyms. Work as a team to build relationships and offer spiritual support (visits should be conducted together with the PML).
  • Logistical Support: Assist the PML in organizing team devotionals and activities by securing spaces, confirming times with athletic staff, and handling necessary preparations.
  • Bridge Building: Serve as the primary logistical bridge between University Ministry and the Athletics Department, fostering a culture of respect and collaboration.
  • Event Support: Attend Schreiner athletic events alongside the PML to support student-athletes and reinforce the presence of the University Ministry team.
  • Reporting: Provide a weekly report to the University Minister summarizing the coordinated schedules, feedback from coaches, and outcomes of the joint visits with the PML.
  • Professional Presence: Maintain a professional and visible presence by wearing a University Ministry T-shirt and name badge during all official duties.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the University Minister to support the collaborative mission of the department.

KEY AREAS OF SUPPORT

  • Offer general office support, such as answering emails, managing calendars, and maintaining supplies.
  • Support the planning and execution of University Ministry events by handling logistical and administrative tasks.
  • Act as a liaison between the ministry office and other University departments or student organizations.
  • Contribute to promotional efforts, including creating flyers, updating social media, and distributing event information.
  • Assist in recruiting and coordinating student volunteers for various ministry activities.

OTHER

  • The applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at Schreiner University.
  • This job is open to freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior level students.
