Schreiner University Football Announces Hiring of Cody Zwernemann as Offensive Line Coach

KERRVILLE, TEXAS — Schreiner University Football is excited to welcomeas its new Offensive Line Coach. With a strong background in both high school and collegiate coaching, Zwernemann brings deep expertise and a passion for student-athlete development as the Mountaineers continue to build their NCAA Division III football program from the ground up.
Zwernemann arrives from Cypress Woods High School in Texas, where his leadership of the offensive line helped engineer the best start in school history. Under his guidance, the team led the district in total offense and passing while allowing just six sacks across 11 games. He also previously coached at Giddings High School, where his lines consistently excelled in both protection and run schemes.
At the collegiate level, Zwernemann has held key roles at Houston Christian University, where he contributed to the nation’s top-ranked passing offense in 2020, as well as at Southwestern University, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and Sam Houston State University. His experience at these programs has sharpened his skills in game planning, recruiting, and team cohesion.
A graduate of Sam Houston State, Zwernemann is known for his technical mastery, high energy, and ability to instill unity within his teams.
“I’m incredibly excited,” Zwernemann said. “This coaching opportunity to join Schreiner University offers me the chance to build something special from the ground up, where we collaborate across campus to help our athletes reach their fullest potential. Bringing football back to a community rich in history, and doing so with a coaching staff that boasts a legacy of consistent winning, is a dream come true.”
Schreiner Head Coach Keith Allen expressed strong enthusiasm for the hire.
“We were very specific in what we were looking for in an Offensive Line Coach. We wanted someone who is technically sound, has a passion for helping others, high energy, relates well with student-athletes, and is always looking for ways to get better. Cody marks all the boxes. We are excited to welcome Cody, his lovely bride Kim, and their children, Collins and Lawson, to Kerrville and the Mountaineer Family.”
Zwernemann’s addition is another important step in Schreiner Football’s commitment to creating a team that exemplifies toughness, discipline, and pride. These values reflect the spirit of Schreiner University and the Texas Hill Country.
