Schreiner Esports team tops league 3rd year in row

KERRVILLE, TX – The Schreiner University Esports program is capping off an “incredible” season of competition, according to Cody Morgan, Esports Coach.
“Our esports athletes have proven their dedication and talent on a near-daily basis, with matches held six days a week and covering up to three different game titles per night,” Morgan said. “These results showcase their determination, skill, strategic gameplay, and remarkable teamwork.”
The teams compete across two leagues–the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and the Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference (ECAC). In the SCAC, which features competition among nine other Division III schools, the Schreiner Esports Apex Legends team claimed first place for the third consecutive year. Other SCAC finishes for Schreiner University teams include:
-Rocket League: 3rd place
-Valorant: 3rd place
-Smash Bros: 4th place
In the ECAC, Schreiner University currently has multiple teams qualifying for the Finals, facing opponents from 220 schools ranging from Division III to Division I, with. Teams competing include:
-Apex Legends, one of only 20 teams to make it to the Apex finals
-Rainbow Six Siege (R6)
-Valorant
-Rocket League
Next semester, Schreiner University will field its first All-Girls Valorant Team, competing in the ECAC. Morgan sees this as an exciting new chapter.
“This groundbreaking addition highlights our commitment to fostering inclusivity and expanding opportunities within the esports community,” Morgan said. “We couldn’t be prouder of our student-athletes and their tireless efforts this semester. Their growth, sportsmanship, and dedication have set the stage for even greater achievements in the future.”
