Kerrville, TX – The 2019 ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Champions, Schreiner University Shotgun Sports, competed in the 2019 Texas State Skeet Championships, held at the Dallas Gun Club in Lewisville, TX, June 20-23. This was the 83rd year of the Texas State Shoot. Schreiner entered 10 shooters – six current members of the Schreiner Shotgun Sports Team, three May graduates and one incoming freshman – into the competition.

Colton Back, a junior at Schreiner, was the collegiate doubles skeet, 20- gauge and 12-gauge champion. Tyler Birkner, also a junior at Schreiner, won the 28-gauge championship. Melissa Barringer, who graduated from Schreiner in May, was Ladies High Over All (HOA) Champion – 390/400 – and won the collegiate 410 championship in extremely windy conditions. Incoming freshman Andre Torrens was runner up in the 410 event and sophomore David Thode came in third. Schreiner Shotgun Sports coach, Robert Davis, took Senior Veteran HOA Runner-Up after being the HOA Champion for the last four years straight.

After Friday’s competitions, a banquet was held to honor the 2019 Texas All-State Skeet Team.
