Rev. Charlie Michele Hornes

Kerrville, TX – Schreiner University announced the selection and hiring of the new University Minister, Rev. Charlie Michele Hornes. Rev. Hornes will begin her duties on Mar 21 at the Junkin Campus Ministry Center. The University Chaplain will primarily serve the campus community’s needs at Schreiner University throughout the academic year while also providing support to Presbyterian Mo-Ranch Assembly. Schreiner University and Presbyterian Mo-Ranch Assembly are working collaboratively to support the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of both campuses.

“We had a number of very strong candidates apply for our full-time University Minister position,” stated Dr. Travis Frampton, Schreiner University Provost. “That Rev. Charlie Hornes stood out in such a strong pool of applicants, I think, speaks to her ability to make immediate and authentic connections with a variety of members across campus. We are very excited to welcome Charlie to our campus and look forward to the leadership she will bring in her role as our campus chaplain.”

Rev. Hornes is a graduate from Union Theological Seminary, part of Columbia Universities in New York City, where she received her Masters of Divinity in 2010. She was ordained as a PC(USA) Minister of Word and Sacrament here in Mission Presbytery in 2012 and is no stranger to the Texas Hill Country as a regular participant at Mo-Ranch camps and conferences for much of her life.

She’s a native Texan, her home church is Lufkin First Presbyterian, and she is a lifelong Presbyterian. She is also a Board-Certified Chaplain and Certified Interim Pastor. Rev. Hornes is currently working on her Doctor of Ministry degree with Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Rev. Hornes is married to Michael, one of the two new Assistant City Managers in Kerrville, and they have two boys, Henry (9) and Charles Cooper (6).
