Schreiner University’s Accounting department has been working with local area businesses to allow students to see first-hand what the fruits of their studies look like in the real world. Several businesses have been working with Schreiner for this opportunity, and on Sept 28 All-Plastics invited them for a presentation and to tour their Kerrville facility.
The presentation curriculum to the Schreiner Accounting students included lean manufacturing, kaizen, bill of materials and cost variance accounting in action. The students were also provided with a tour of the facility and benchmarking information on manufacturing careers and wages.
“We enjoy working with Schreiner University students to engage them in manufacturing and encourage students to join the plastics industry as a whole by demonstrating the lesser-known sides of the trade,” said Jennifer Latiolais, Marketing and Business Development Manager for All-Plastics.
In 2016, Schreiner’s graphic designs class, under Dr. David Smith, developed, created and rebranded All-Plastics with a new logo.
All-Plastics CEO and President, Thomas Houdeshell, currently serves on the President’s Advisory Council of Schreiner University and is a past member of the Schreiner University Management Advisory Board where he served from 2005-2010.
“Education and training of our employees is engrained into our core philosophies,” said Houdeshell. “We see Educational Outreach as an expansion of our commitment and enjoy creating programs that drive excitement and interest in manufacturing careers to students of all ages.”
