Kerrville, TX – Schreiner Pop Con will combine Esports, tabletop gaming, cosplay, and pop culture into three days, April 5-7, at the Schreiner University Event Center in Kerrville, TX. This year will feature cosplay contests, an escape room, the 19th annual Popular Culture Symposium, and loads
of gaming. The event is open to the public and three-day passes are only $20 for adults and only $10 for those under 18. Schreiner Pop Con is free for current Schreiner students, staff and faculty.

Microsoft is the presenting sponsor for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Esports Showdown and will provide gaming hardware needed to compete. Schreiner University’s Esports Varsity Program – sponsored by HCTC and Apogee – will compete against multiple collegiate Esports teams this year such as: Austin College, Colorado College, Johnson & Wales University, Southwestern University, and Trinity University.

Gamers from the community are invited to meet the collegiate teams and coaches to learn more about the life as a collegiate Esports Athlete, as well as how to earn scholarship money to obtain a college degree while doing something they already love.

Included with admission, a brand new “Super-Hero” themed Treacherous Times Escape Room where audiences will be given a set amount of time to escape a room filled with Infinity War themed activities. There will also be walk-up gaming tournaments for players to show their skills and win some prizes.

Heart of the Cards, in Kerrville, will sponsor Magic the Gathering tournaments, as well as demos on board games and will have merchandise available on site for competition or casual play.

Pop Con started in May of 2017 as a one-day pop culture celebration for Schreiner University students and hosted screenings of local films, Star Wars themed escape room, held video game tournaments, including Dungeons and Dragons. Last year, over 200 faculty members, staff & students
participated in the event.
