ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment strategy for Military Academy Preparatory School Cadet Candidates in coordination with the Provost, Director of Schreiner Institute, and the Coordinator of the Military Academy Preparatory School;
  • Representing Schreiner University and the Schreiner Institute Military Academy Preparatory School before state, regional, and national organizations, and—as appropriate or necessary—through public relations opportunities offered by media outlets;
  • Collecting contact information for students who either qualify for admission to the Schreiner Institute or to Schreiner University and sharing it with the Coordinator of the Military Academy Preparatory School or the admissions office for processing;
  • Provide input and assistance in developing a comprehensive marketing plan to promote internal and external visibility of Schreiner Institute Military Academy Preparatory School;
  • Preparing reports and presents information to campus administration, external organizations, current donors, prospective donors, and other key external stakeholders as requested;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff as well as with external constituents.
  • Served as a Commissioned Officer in one of the branches of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Understanding of current state and federal student benefits.
  • Able to work well individually and in groups.
  • Able to work professionally and collaboratively with others.
  • Proactive, able to begin projects with little supervision.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to manage the services and programs for academy preparatory students with minimal direction from assigned supervisor.
  • Applied or assisted applicants in the Military Academy application procedures, Military Academy or Senior Military College graduate (preferred).
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, related insurance, and good driving record.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Liaison Officer for the Schreiner Institute Military Academy Preparatory School reports to the Director of Schreiner Institute and is responsible for developing and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment strategy in coordination with the Provost and the Director of Schreiner Institute. The Liaison Officer will serve as the main contact for all prospective Military Academy Preparatory School (MAPS) students at Schreiner University. The Liaison Officer for MAPS is responsible for recruiting and preparing students who are interested in attending one of the United States Service Academies. The person in this position will work with multiple external agencies and programs to develop and enhance outreach efforts to facilitate student recruitment for the Schreiner Institute Military Academy Preparatory School. The Liaison Officer will have a solid understanding of current federal and state legislation pertaining to the procedures for MAPS students to receive appointments to one of the United States Service Academies.
