The Department of English at Schreiner University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English. This is a one-year non-Tenure Track position beginning August 2022. The position can be renewed for an additional year upon mutual agreement. The successful candidate will teach introductory composition courses as well as literature surveys and upper-division special topics courses. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, and university service. The teaching load is 12 hours per semester.
Just 50-minutes north of San Antonio, Kerrville, the “Capital of the Texas Hill Country,” is a lively and tight knit community with excellent schools, dining, amenities, and natural spaces. Home to the famous Kerrville Folk Festival, the city also hosts an annual triathlon, Festival of the Arts, Chalk Festival, and regular music festivals at Louise Hays Park along the beautiful Guadalupe River.
Schreiner plays an integral role in this vibrant community and is connected to the city by a 6-mile-long hike-and-bike trail that terminates at Schreiner’s Trailhead Beer Garden, a newly constructed outdoor music venue and gathering place for all members of the university and city.
Qualifications: An earned doctorate in English or ABD with completion no later than August 2022. Teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
