Why did you choose Schreiner? I chose Schreiner because I loved the idea of being part of a small, liberal arts university and the campus is breathtakingly beautiful.
How has Schreiner helped you reach your goals? As a single mom I knew the best decision I could make for myself and my family was to go back to school. Schreiner helped me build confidence in myself that I could achieve my dreams. I know that the quality education I am receiving at Schreiner has inspired me to continue my learning beyond a bachelor’s degree. I also thank the Hill Country College Fund for making my education possible.
What advice would you give to an incoming freshman? My main piece of advice for freshmen is to not be afraid to ask questions. If you do not ask, you are depriving yourself of opportunities that could support you in your academics and in life.
Where is your favorite study spot? My absolute favorite study spot is the Logan Library. The moment you walk through the doors you are filled with a great sense of purpose and you know you are about to engage in scholarly work.
Favorite restaurant in Kerrville? My favorite restaurant in Kerrville is Antojitos El Palmar Chico on 810 Main St. If you want delicious authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex) food this is the place to go. They serve homemade tortilla chips and the picadillo is superb!
What RSO are you in and why did you join? I am part of the History Honors Society, Pi Alpha Theta. This honor group, led by Dr. Cude, has allowed me to participate as a scholar in professional organizations and conferences.
Favorite campus events? My favorite campus event is the Chautauqua Speaker Series where we get to learn interesting facts, information and ideas from experts in a variety of different fields. I also enjoy Pi Alpha Theta’s Historical Murder Mystery events!
