Why did you choose Schreiner?
I chose Schreiner because it was close to home and I’m able to commute daily, lowering the cost of attendance. Thanks to small classroom sizes, instructors are able to assist students one-on-one and there are also great supplemental instructors that can walk around and help students. Schreiner’s small size also allows students to easily locate and meet with instructors or staff, setting up connections that are typically unavailable for students at universities.
What is your intended career?
After my Schreiner experience, I hope to attend medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon specializing in reconstruction.
Why do you want to have that career?
Surgery is awesome! But on a serious note, reconstructive orthopedics is highly specialized, yet incredibly fundamental. Musculoskeletal damage is very common, caused by strenuous physical activity, blunt force trauma, or simply aging. When the musculoskeletal system becomes damaged, motility may decrease and pain may arise, causing detriment to a patient’s quality of life. As an orthopedic surgeon specializing in reconstruction, my job would be to repair damaged musculoskeletal systems, attempting to return the patient’s body to near, or full-functionality. By achieving my own dreams, I would also be able to improve the quality of life for thousands of patients!
