Why did you choose Schreiner?
I chose Schreiner because I automatically felt at home the moment I walked on campus. Everyone was so friendly, and I knew that Schreiner was where I wanted to grow as an individual. After completing Mountaineer day, I knew that I belonged here and wanted to call this my home away from home.
How has Schreiner helped you reach your goals?
Schreiner has helped me reach my goals in many ways in the past two semesters I have been able to join a sorority, become a Schreiner student ambassador, present at a conference in New Mexico, be a top student presenter at Schreiner Pop Con, travel to Puerto Rico with Campus Ministry and our president, and most importantly make relationships with some of the best professors and classmates.
What advice would you give to an incoming Freshman?
GET INVOLVED! Never in a million years would I have thought to be involved on campus. I used to always think that big schools were the only ones that held large events and had lots of organizations. I was wrong, because at Schreiner there is definitely something for everyone. There’s also tons of events going on around the school year that SAB puts together to get away from the everyday academic life and they’re always really fun to go to!
Where is your favorite study spot?
As a STEM major I would have to say that the STEMZone is my favorite spot of all time. Mostly because it is open 24/7 and there’s always someone there to help you out with any homework help. It also has these really cool desks that help you stay focused and the chairs have USB ports in them to charge your devices!
Favorite restaurant in Kerrville?
My favorite spot definitely has to be Mary’s Tacos. They have the best handmade tortillas and they remind me a lot of home cooking, and they’re super-fast.
What RSO are you in and why did you join?
I am in STEM Connection, student worker at CPDP, Ambassador, and Alpha Sigma Alpha. I joined these mostly because I wanted to become more involved in campus. This has definitely helped me out because a lot of these organizations motivate me to give it my all.
Favorite Campus Events?
My favorite campus events are all the ones put on by SAB (Student Activities Board), they always have something that is so fun, and it always is a great distraction for when your classes start to get a little more hectic. My all-time favorite has to be BINGO, SAB has this event every semester and they always give out amazing prizes that are super useful!
