SU hosted Korean delegates, signed exchange agreement for Global Scholars program
Schreiner University hosted delegates from Hannam University in Daejeon, South Korea, to sign a formal exchange agreement on May 20 in the Scarle-Philips Room of the Logan Library on SU campus.
Schreiner University is launching the Global Scholars Living and Learning Community in fall 2014, and at the conclusion of the first year, the Global Scholars will travel to Hannam University for a three-week study abroad experience.
“This is made possible by the exchange agreement between Hannam and Schreiner Universities,” said Seabrook Jones, Global Scholars coordinator. “As part of this exchange, two students from Hannam University will attend Schreiner University in the fall and spring semesters beginning in the fall of 2015. Hannam University was established in 1956 by Presbyterian missionaries. Our shared religious affiliation played a role in our decision to partner with the university.”
During the signing, Dr. Charlie McCormick, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and Mr. Wonbae Kim, Hannam’s director of international relations, delivered remarks about the program. There also was a presentation video about Hannam University, followed by remarks from presidents of both universities—Dr. Hyungtae Kim and Dr. Tim Summerlin. The presidents then signed copies of the exchange agreement.
