Science News editor to speak at Schreiner

Tom Siegfried, editor-in-chief of the bi-weekly magazine Science News, will be the Harry Crate lecturer at Schreiner University, 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, in the theater of the Floyd & Kathleen Cailloux Campus Activity Center on the University campus. Siegfried will speak on “Science in the 21st Century: New Styles, New Surprises.”

Siegfried’s talk will be a look at a current revolution in science comparable to—and equally dramatic as—the Copernican Revolution of the 16th century, which literally turned our perception of the universe on its ear.

“Besides deepening the scientific understanding of nature,” he said, “this 21st century revolution will realize many of the technological dreams of science fiction.”

Science News has been published for nearly 90 years by the nonprofit organization Society for Science & the Public. Siegfried has been editor there since 2007. Its website is at
