Kerrville resident receives Whitehurst Award
Lindsey Renee Rhoden, of Kerrville, received the Schreiner University 2011 Elmore Whitehurst Award for Excellence in Learning. Rhoden was in the University Honors Program and was accepted into the Joint Admission Medical Program in 2009. JAMP students are guaranteed acceptance into a Texas Medical School. Rhoden, a biology major, graduated Magna cum Laude from Schreiner. She is the daughter of Troy and Wendy Rhoden of Kerrville.

The Hatton W. Sumners Foundation established the annual Whitehurst award for a student graduating with a bachelor’s degree who wants to continue on to graduate school in his or her field. It carries with it a scholarship from the foundation. Schreiner provost Dr. Charlie McCormick presented the award to Rhoden at Schreiner’s May 7 commencement ceremony.
