Schreiner graduates record number in 2011

Schreiner University conferred 132 degrees at commencement May 7, including 128 baccalaureate degrees, three master’s and one associate of arts. With the baccalaureate and master’s recipients who graduated earlier in the year, the University presented a record number of diplomas in 2011—170 baccalaureate degrees, 20 master’s and one associate of arts.

Heather Lee, a 2008 Schreiner graduate, gave the sermon at the morning baccalaureate service. Lee, whose hometown is Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, will complete her Master of Divinity degree this year at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

The 2011 commencement speaker was Ed Whitacre Jr., who after his retirement as CEO of AT&T became CEO of General Motors, overseeing that company’s restructuring. Whitacre spoke to the graduating class about his experiences as a businessman and how they will continue to learn throughout their lives.
