Dance ’til you drop for a good cause
Schreiner University Greek Life is hosting a Dance-a-thon from 6 p.m., Friday, April 13, to 2 a.m., Saturday, April 14 to raise money for Methodist Ministries.
“According to Mary Wingo, Office of Student Activities and Greek Life, Methodist Ministries recently covered medical expenses for a Schreiner student diagnosed with a brain tumor.
“The money raised through the Dance-a-thon will be going back to Methodist Ministries to help another family in need,” she said.
Originally, danceathons were a feature of the Great Depression, in which couples danced for hours trying to be the last exhausted dancers standing and win a prize.
Schreiner’s Dance-a-Thon will be less grueling and more fun, with food, live entertainment and prizes. Participants will be asked to get monetary pledges. Dancers will be in teams of four, and one couple must be on the dance floor at all times. Dance team from the Kerrville community will dance from 6-10 p.m., with campus teams dancing 10 p.m. on.
The registration fee for the event is $20 and deadline for registering is Thursday, April 12.
