Requirements?
At Schreiner University, we take a holistic approach to the admission process. We will evaluate your GPA, class rank, test scores and other aspects to make an admission decision.

Here is what the average incoming student looked like this past year:

  • 1000 SAT (Critical Reading + Math Scores Combined)
  • 22 ACT
  • Ranked in the top half of the class
  • 3.53 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Outside of the basic stats listed, our incoming students have a passion for learning, are seeking smaller classes taught by professors who care and are focused on every student's academic success, and are ready for hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom.

Why SU?
You have already taken college classes, so you know what you are looking for in a college. Schreiner University offers students the opportunity to have hands-on experiences with advanced research projects. Our class sizes are small enabling us to provide personal attention from professors within every major. We have outstanding athletic teams, clubs and organizations to help you stay connected to campus and pursue your extra-curricular interests. If you are ready to earn your degree and have the skills needed to go into the workforce or on to graduate school then Schreiner University is the right place for you.

Have more questions to see just how perfect we are for you? Call our Transfer Admission Counselor, Janie Groll, at 800-343-4919 or email her at jlgroll@schreiner.edu.

Requirements?
We will make this simple. If you have earned more than 15 transferable college hours with a 2.0 transfer GPA or above, you are automatically accepted. If you have higher than a 2.50 transfer GPA, you may be eligible for a transfer scholarship.

If you have less than 15 transferable hours, then we will look at your official high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores in addition to your college transcripts.

If you have lower than a 2.0 transfer GPA, then we will require you to submit a detailed essay and complete a short interview before we make an admission decision.

What credits will transfer?
We accept credits from all accredited colleges and universities. The majority of your classes should transfer into Schreiner credit; however, it is important to know if your transfer credits are needed for your intended Schreiner major. You can email your unofficial transcripts to Janie Groll for a unofficial transfer evaluation and degree audit.

We have transfer articulation agreements with Alamo Community Colleges in San Antonio. To see the course equivalency guides, go to

Graduate Programs

Online Master of Business Administration:

If your career goals are growth and advancement, then an MBA is a competitive essential! We offer a fully online MBA, but your online classes are done with a small cohort of students and professors, so you still get the personal attention that Schreiner is famous for. Through video conferencing and online document sharing, you will actively participate in group projects, learning valuable leadership and teamwork skills.

Classes are offered during 7-week terms and students have the option of taking one or two classes during every term. If you are able to take two classes every term (four classes per semester), you will be able to complete the program in only one year! This program is designed to satisfy the needs of working professionals. Candidates may enter the program before any of the six available terms throughout the year. If you choose to complete one class every term, the thirty-six (36) semester hour MBA may be completed in two years.

Successful organizations are dependent upon timely and quality decisions. The program integrates ownership decision making models with integrity and quality programs that are important to most firms’ sustainability. Undergraduate students are often reluctant decision makers because they have not experienced significant responsibilities. Conversely, the MBA program at Schreiner University builds confident decision makers by focusing on the essential business disciplines, integrating integrity, employing quality strategies and practicing decision making through national simulation competition.

Master of Education:

Through the Schreiner University "Learning by Heart Online" Graduate Program in Education, you can get an edge on the competition in today's job market by securing an advanced degree.

In only three semesters you can achieve your professional and educational goals by attending classes once a month on Saturdays. The rest is online! If you are still in undergraduate courses, choose our 5th Year Distinguished Educator's Program. If you have completed your undergraduate degree in education, choose a Master of Education and go to graduate school while you work!

Students can also choose to add on a semester of a professional internship to earn their Teaching Certification.

We also offer a one semester 100% online Principal Certification for those that have completed their MEd.

Nursing Programs

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN):

The United States is the midst of a critical nursing shortage that is expected to intensify as baby boomers age and the need for health care grows. Over the past decade, both in Texas and nationally, there has been an escalating demand for RNs that exceeds the current RN-supply—and that nation-wide shortage is expected to increase to approximately 260,000 RNs by 2025. The new four year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program at Schreiner University will allow the Hill Country to grow a local supply of quality RNs to help meet such rising healthcare demand in and around our own community. Prior to admission in the BSN program, a number of pre-requisite courses are required.

The BSN program at Schreiner University is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. We are a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN).

This four year program consists of two years of prerequisite courses, followed by a second competitive application process and two years of upper level nursing courses and hands-on clinical training. Thirty students are accepted each fall into the upper level program. Students must apply first with the Admission Office for undergraduate degrees and complete all prerequisite requirements before applying into the BSN program.

Students must apply first with the Admission Office for undergraduate degrees and complete all prerequisite requirements before applying into the BSN program.Applications for freshmen and transfers are available through the Admission Office online.

Online RN to BSN:

Schreiner University's Online RN to BSN program equips RNs to advance their career opportunities and nursing skills to meet the ever-changing needs of the profession and society. Online RN to BSN students are provided with innovative coursework that aims to produce nurse leaders and lifelong learners with high ethical standards. Interwoven with ethical principles, the program's curriculum trains graduates to provide holistic and compassionate patient-centered care to diverse populations.

Built with student success in mind, Schreiner's Online RN to BSN program offers students the flexibility to earn an accredited degree while maintaining a career. The program offers five start dates per year, and students can complete the program in as little as twelve months. In addition to their required coursework, students in the program can choose from a wide range of electives that include opportunities to train outside the continental US. Students employed with partner healthcare providers are eligible for a $2,000 scholarship.

Application and more information can be found here.

Vocational Nursing:

Schreiner University offers an exciting and intense one year Vocational Nursing Program (classes starting in January). You will participate in extensive hands-on clinical training to enhance your classroom learning. The program is Monday – Thursday. You must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalence, as well as an assessment in Math and English. We do not require any college prerequisites before starting the Vocational Nursing Program. Once you complete and graduate the Vocational Nursing Program you will have to take and pass your state board exam with the Texas Board of Nursing to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).

Application and more information can be found here.

Financial Aid information specific to the Vocational Nursing Program can be found here.

Greystone Preparatory Academy and School

The Greystone Preparatory Academy is a college-level, academy preparatory program. If you are serious about re-application to a military service academy and searching for a college-level program where you can earn up to 38 college credits and is designed to meet your individual academic needs, look no further than Greystone.

Students should complete the undergraduate application, but should select “Greystone” as the student type on the very first question of the application. This will customize all questions to be Greystone-specific. Students will need to submit official transcripts and official ACT/SAT scores along with a resume and essay. Letters of recommendation are not required but encouraged. All materials can be sent to the Schreiner University Office of Admission. Once all documents are received, the Greystone Admission Committee will review and make an admission decision into the program.

Greystone students are only eligible for the Greystone Scholarship upon admission. Because Greystone students are not seeking a degree, they are not eligible for federal student aid (FAFSA) or VA benefits according to the federal government. We will be happy to assist families in payment plans options and private loan options. Students are also encouraged to look for outside scholarships.

The Greystone Scholarship is tuition specific.

The Greystone Scholarship for 2016-2017 is $6,474. Students who receive academy sponsorship will receive an additional $500. Academy sponsorship must be pursued and obtained by the student and their family.
